POSITION TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Professional Accounting and Front Line Service Team
REPORTS TO: Partners, Managers and Senior Staff
HOURS: 8:30 AM TO 5:00 PM
DATE: October 2017
PURPOSE: The Senior Accountant assists partners and managers in proving quality professional services to meet clients’ goals and understanding their needs. This is a leadership role to support junior staff in developing their professional and technical competencies in the office environment and on client sites.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Senior Accountant will be responsible to:
  • Uphold the live-work balance and values of D & H Group LLP
  • Analyze and review financial information.
  • Interact directly with clients on various year end and special engagements.
  • Analyze and review financial information.
  • Complete requisite tax returns for clients.
  • Participate in tax return pools for a least one of the following T1, T3 and T4.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to first and second year CPA students in the office and on client sites.
  • Complete working papers and corporate tax returns for review by managers or partners.
  • Act as a senior member on the assurance teams to perform audit and review engagements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Commerce/ Bachelor of Applied degree in Accounting or Equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in public practice accounting including: compilation, review, audit, corporate and personal tax preparation experience.
  • Successful completion of UFE/CFE or designated CPA

SKILLS:

  • Likes to interact with people
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees and clients.
  • Proficient in Caseware, Taxprep and Microsoft Office.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills in both numbers and concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of audit, assurance and tax standards.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a talent to develop positive rapport and convey concepts and services to clients.
